General Admission (GA) tickets for the FIA WEC race at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) provide access to multiple viewing areas around the track without assigned seating.

These tickets offer the flexibility to move around the circuit and take in the action from different perspectives throughout the event. Whether you prefer a high-speed straight, a technical section, or a sweeping corner, you can choose your ideal vantage point.

For the FIA WEC race, viewing points include the Main Grandstand, Turn 1 Grandstand, Turn 12 Grandstand and Turn 15 Grandstand, though access is subject to change.

COTA features six entry gates, strategically located at key areas such as the Main Grandstand, Turn 1 and Grand Plaza, allowing convenient access to various sections of the circuit. Gates generally open at 8:30 AM on Friday and Saturday and at 8:00 AM on Sunday, with parking lots available 30 minutes earlier. It’s always a good idea to check for any last-minute schedule changes to avoid any inconvenience.

All attendees must go through security screening, so to ensure a hassle-free entry, travel light and review the list of restricted items beforehand.

For the best experience, wear comfortable shoes and clothing suited for extended walking and changing weather conditions. Stay hydrated by bringing a refillable water bottle to take advantage of the complimentary water stations around the venue. To stay updated on maps and event announcements, downloading the COTA app is highly recommended.

Rules for visitors

Just like at other major events at COTA, including the United States Grand Prix, attendees at the FIA WEC race must follow the event’s rules and guidelines. Here’s a quick overview of the key regulations for spectators:

Allowed Items:

  • Baby strollers: Permitted for convenience but must not obstruct pathways or seating areas.
  • Binoculars: Spectators may bring binoculars to enhance their viewing experience.
  • Blankets: Allowed, particularly for General Admission areas where seating on grassy hills is common.
  • Camelbaks (empty): Hydration packs are permitted as long as they are empty upon arrival and can be refilled inside the venue.
  • Factory-sealed water bottles: Each guest may bring one factory-sealed 20oz (approximately 0.6L) water bottle for hydration.
  • Personal photography equipment: Standard digital cameras with detachable lenses are permitted, but tripods, monopods, and bipods are not allowed.
  • Portable folding chairs: Small foldable chairs are allowed in General Admission areas for comfort.
  • Sunscreen (plastic bottles only): Non-aerosol sunscreen in plastic containers is allowed for sun protection.
  • Umbrellas (small, hand-held): Compact umbrellas are permitted but should not obstruct the view of other attendees.

Prohibited items:

  • Alcohol and outside food/drinks: Bringing alcoholic beverages or outside food is not permitted; a variety of concessions are available inside the venue.
  • Oversized bags: Bags larger than 12x12x20 inches (30x30x50 cm) are restricted to ensure smooth security checks and ease of movement.
  • Bicycles, scooters, and personal transport: Unauthorized vehicles, including skateboards, segways, and scooters, are not allowed for safety reasons.
  • Coolers, thermoses, and metal bottles: These items are prohibited, but empty plastic bottles can be refilled at designated water stations.
  • Drones and aerial devices: Remote-controlled drones and similar equipment are banned to maintain safety and privacy.
  • Explosives and fireworks: Fireworks, flares, and any other hazardous materials are strictly forbidden.
  • Glass containers: Glass bottles, jars, and other breakable glass items are not allowed due to safety concerns.
  • Weapons and dangerous objects: Firearms, knives, pepper spray, and any other potential weapons are strictly prohibited.

Parking

Parking at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) during the U.S. Grand Prix includes both official and unofficial options. Official lots, close to the track, cost $35–$70 for the FIA WEC event.

Unofficial lots, typically a 15–20 minute walk from COTA, offer a budget-friendly alternative, with some allowing online reservations. However, availability may vary for the FIA WEC event. Southwest Austin Event Parking and Ruiz Parking (near Turn 1, with camping options) are popular choices during major race weekends, but it's advisable to check in advance whether they will be open for WEC.

Camping at COTA during the FIA WEC weekend offers an immersive race experience.

Official On-Site Camping (from $110 in 2024)
Premium RV Camping (TBC for 2025) provides RV owners with a prime trackside spot with water, electricity, showers, and toilets. Limited to 70-80 spaces, it sells out fast. General Admission tickets are required.

Lot N Camping is a budget-friendly unpaved option just 5 minutes from the track, with showers and basic facilities.
