MotoGP Qatar 2025

The Qatar MotoGP, held at the Lusail International Circuit, has been part of the MotoGP calendar since 2004. In 2008, it became the first-ever MotoGP night race, adding a spectacular floodlit setting to the high-speed action.

The circuit’s flowing layout combines sweeping corners with a long main straight, demanding precision and control from riders. With a physically demanding mix of medium- and high-speed turns, Lusail tests both endurance and bike performance, while the kilometre-long straight ensures solid overtaking opportunities.

The night-race atmosphere creates a unique experience, with fans in the grandstands and fan zones adding to the excitement throughout the weekend. Beyond the circuit, visitors can enjoy a mix of local culture and modern attractions, making the Qatar MotoGP a must-visit event for racing enthusiasts.

Spectators at the Qatar MotoGP can choose from different viewing options, each offering a unique perspective on the action at Lusail International Circuit. The Main Grandstand, located along the Main Straight, provides an unparalleled experience, putting fans at the heart of the event. From here, ticket holders can witness the start of the race, the grid ceremony, intense pit stops, and the dramatic finish. 

All three-day tickets include access to free seating within the Main Grandstand as well as entry to Lusail Hill, a General Admission zone positioned at the end of Turn 1. This elevated viewing area offers a different perspective on the race.

Schedule

The Qatar MotoGP kicks off the season with three days of racing under the floodlights at Lusail International Circuit.

Friday
Riders take to the track for Practice 1 and 2, aiming to secure a direct place in Q2 or risk the extra challenge of Q1.

Saturday
A 30-minute Free Practice session kicks off the day before qualifying determines the starting grid for both the Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix. The Sprint, run at half the full race distance, delivers intense battles and rewards points for the top nine finishers.

Sunday
A short MotoGP warm-up session precedes the main event, where the Grand Prix race could play a crucial role in the championship fight, delivering a thrilling season finale.

Entering the circuit

Getting to the Lusail International Circuit for the Qatar Grand Prix is simple, with multiple transport options available

The Doha Metro’s Red Line stops at Lusail QNB Station, where shuttle buses take spectators directly to the circuit. Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are also available, with designated drop-off and pick-up points near the entrance. For those driving, parking areas are located close to the circuit, though arriving early is recommended to avoid traffic delays.

Entry to the circuit is organized through multiple gates to ensure a smooth arrival process. The Main Grandstand and hospitality areas have dedicated entrances. Security checks are carried out at all gates, so fans should allow extra time before making their way to their seats. With well-structured transport and entry procedures, getting to the Qatar Grand Prix is hassle-free, allowing fans to fully enjoy the race weekend.

Rules for visitors

As with all MotoGP events, the Qatar MotoGP has specific regulations that spectators need to follow. Below is a general overview of the key guidelines:

Allowed/recommended items  

  • Small bags or backpacks – Must be within the permitted size limits (maximum 75 cm in any dimension).
  • Compact banners and flags – Must not exceed 2x1.5 metres to avoid obstructing views.
  • Personal cameras and smartphones – For capturing the action, but professional photography equipment may require special permission.
  • Sealed packs of tissues or wet wipes – Allowed for personal use.
  • Valid ID – Spectators should bring a government-issued ID, especially if attending with children.

Prohibited items

  • Bags larger than 75 cm in any dimension – Oversized bags are not permitted for security reasons, so attendees should bring only small bags or backpacks within the allowed size.
  • Banners exceeding 2x1.5 metres – Large banners that could obstruct views or create safety hazards are not allowed.
  • Fireworks – All types of fireworks and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited to ensure spectator safety.
  • Food and drinks (except for children’s essentials) – Outside food and beverages are not allowed inside the venue, except for necessary provisions for young children.
  • Glass containers – Glass bottles, jars, or any other breakable containers are not permitted within the circuit.
  • Laser devices – Laser pointers and similar items that could distract riders, officials, or spectators are banned.
  • More than one package of medication (limited to a single pack with up to seven types) – Essential medication is allowed but must be within the permitted limit.

Parking

There are several parking areas near the Lusail International Circuit. Free parking is available in a designated zone west of the circuit, but spaces are limited and tend to fill up quickly, especially on race days. If you're driving, it's best to arrive early to secure a spot and avoid unnecessary delays.

The circuit can be accessed via the Al Khor Coastal Road, with entry through Exit 32. Signs labelled "Spectators" will guide you to the appropriate parking area. To make navigation easier, consider downloading the LIC app and using the maps tab for parking information.

Heavy traffic is common after the race, so planning your exit strategy can help reduce waiting times. If on-site parking is full, an alternative is to park near Lusail Metro Station (Red Line) and take the official shuttle service to the circuit.

About the circuit

The Lusail International Circuit (LIC) is Qatar’s premier motorsport venue and has been a key stop on the MotoGP calendar since 2004

The 5.4 km track features 16 corners, with a mix of medium- and high-speed bends that demand precision and skill. The long a1.068 km main straight is one of the longest on the calendar, creating prime opportunities for slipstreaming and late-braking overtakes. The track surface was recently resurfaced, ensuring optimal grip and consistency for high-speed battles.

Lusail offers modern facilities, including grandstands, hospitality lounges, and dedicated fan zones, enhancing the spectator experience. The night race setting under powerful floodlights adds to the spectacle, creating a unique atmosphere that makes the Qatar MotoGP stand out on the calendar.
