Entering the circuit

Mobility Resort Motegi offers multiple access points for spectators attending the Japan MotoGP. The main entrances are well-organized, with clear signage directing visitors to parking areas, shuttle stops, and ticket checkpoints.

For those arriving by car or motorcycle, designated parking zones are available, though advance reservations may be required for some areas. Shuttle buses operate from major transport hubs, including JR Utsunomiya Station and JR Mito Station, ensuring smooth access to the venue.

Spectators should allow extra time for security checks at the entrance gates. Bag inspections and ticket validation are conducted to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Once inside, clear pathways and signage make it easy to navigate the grandstands, fan zones, and hospitality areas.

Rules for visitors

Before heading to Mobility Resort Motegi for the Japan MotoGP, it's advisable to check the list of permitted and prohibited items to ensure hassle-free entry and avoid any delays at security checkpoints.

Allowed items  

  • Food and Beverages: Guests are allowed to bring a small quantity of food and drinks for personal use, such as a bottle, sandwich, fruit, or snack. However, for security reasons, bottles may need to be carried without caps. A variety of food and beverage stalls are available throughout the venue.
  • ID Requirements: A valid identification document may be needed for ticket validation, purchasing age-restricted items, and entry into specific areas.
  • Cameras: Personal cameras with detachable lenses are permitted, but professional equipment such as large cameras, tripods, and monopods is not allowed.
  • Photography & Filming: Taking photos and recording videos for personal use is allowed; however, the use of professional photography gear is restricted.
  • Sunscreen: Only non-aerosol plastic containers of sunscreen are permitted for sun protection.

Prohibited items

  • Alcohol: Carrying alcoholic beverages into the circuit is not allowed.
  • Animals: No pets or animals are allowed within the circuit premises.
  • Containers: Glass, metal, and wooden containers are strictly prohibited.
  • Drones: The use of drones is completely restricted within the circuit grounds.
  • Personal Transport Devices: Bicycles, scooters, and similar transportation devices must remain outside the venue.
  • Pyrotechnics: Fireworks, flares, smoke bombs, and similar items are strictly forbidden.
  • Sharp Objects: Knives, scissors, and any other pointed or sharp items are not permitted.

Parking

Parking at Motegi during the Japan MotoGP can be crowded, so planning ahead is essential. Pre-booking your parking pass is strongly recommended, as spots fill up quickly. Limited on-the-day parking may be available, but it's not guaranteed.

Overnight parking is allowed in certain areas.

  • North Area: A large parking zone with Overnight Square in N5, the main hub for evening activities. A free shuttle bus connects this area to the central event zone.
  • South Area: Smaller, secluded forest parking areas, ideal for those seeking a quieter atmosphere away from the crowds.
  • East Area: Several parking lots are accessible via the East Gate for additional convenience.

Staying at the Japan MotoGP campsite offers fans a unique experience, keeping them close to the action all weekend. Motegi provides designated camping areas within walking distance of the track, with options ranging from tent camping and RV spots to glamping for those seeking extra comfort.

Facilities typically include restrooms, showers, and food stalls, with some areas featuring vending machines or communal cooking spaces. Electric hookups may be available, particularly in RV sections. 

Campers can enjoy a lively atmosphere with fellow fans, making it a great way to experience the MotoGP weekend both on and off the track. Advance reservations are highly recommended, as camping spots can fill up quickly.

Mobility Resort Motegi (in the past also known as Twin Ring Motegi) is a unique and technical circuit known for its stop-and-go layout that challenges riders with heavy braking zones and rapid acceleration. Built by Honda in 1997, the track features a mix of tight hairpins, sweeping corners, and long straights, demanding precise bike control and strategy.

A 4.8 km (2.98 miles) long circuit with 14 corners, consisting of six left-handers and eight right-handers.  

The circuit has been a part of the MotoGP calendar since 1999. Over the years, it has witnessed memorable battles, unpredictable weather conditions, and dramatic championship-deciding moments.

Located in Tochigi Prefecture, about 150 km from Tokyo, the circuit is surrounded by lush forests, offering a scenic backdrop for the high-speed action. The venue isn’t just about racing – it also includes the Honda Collection Hall, showcasing historic motorcycles and race cars, along with family-friendly attractions within the connected amusement park.
