Entering the circuit

The Malaysian MotoGP at Sepang International Circuit offers multiple ways for fans to arrive and enter. Gates open at 8:00 AM, with security checks at all entrances. Both digital and printed tickets are accepted, and baggage storage is available near the Main Entrance.

Travel options from Kuala Lumpur include shuttle buses from key locations, taxis as well as a train to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with onward connections by shuttle or taxi. Due to increased traffic on race weekends, allowing extra travel time is recommended.

Inside the circuit, various facilities are available to enhance the race-day experience. Food and beverage stalls, merchandise shops, and fan zones are spread throughout the venue, providing entertainment and activities alongside the on-track action.

Rules for visitors

Before arriving at Sepang International Circuit for the Malaysian MotoGP, it’s advisable to check the list of permitted and restricted items to ensure hassle-free entry and avoid any delays at security checks.

Allowed items  

  • Baby Strollers: Allowed for convenience but must not block aisles, pathways, or seating areas.
  • Binoculars: Guests may bring binoculars to get a closer view of the on-track action.
  • Blankets: Permitted, especially for fans in General Admission areas who prefer to sit on grassy hillsides.
  • Personal Cameras: Standard cameras with detachable lenses are permitted, though tripods, monopods, and similar equipment are not allowed.
  • Sunscreen: Non-aerosol sunscreen in plastic containers is allowed for sun protection.
  • Identification (ID): A valid government-issued photo ID may be required for ticket verification, age-restricted purchases, and certain event access points.

Prohibited items

  • Alcohol and outside food/drinks – Bringing alcoholic beverages or outside food and drinks is not allowed, except for one sealed water bottle (up to 600 ml).
  • Dangerous objects – Any item that could be used as a weapon, pose a safety risk, damage property, or disrupt the event is prohibited.
  • Electronic interference devices – Equipment such as drones or other electronics that could interfere with communication or broadcasting is not permitted.
  • Glass items – Glass containers, bottles, and other glass objects are not allowed, except for sunglasses, binoculars, and prescription glasses.
  • Illegal substances – The possession or use of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden, though prescribed medications are permitted.
  • Large flags and banners – Flags or banners over 1 metre in size or with poles longer than 1 metre are not allowed.
  • Personal seating structures – Items like chairs, stools, or benches that can support a person’s weight are not permitted.
  • Vehicles and mobility devices – Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, motorised mobility solutions and similar vehicles are restricted.

Parking

The Sepang International Circuit provides ample parking options for both cars and motorcycles.

Free parking is available throughout the circuit in designated Bays 1-17, with Bays 1-5 also accommodating motorcycles. Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that parking is at your own risk, so securing your vehicle and personal belongings is strongly recommended. The circuit management is not responsible for any loss or damage.

Vehicles parked improperly, including on roadsides or in unauthorised areas, may face police enforcement. This could lead to fines or towing, so be sure to follow all parking regulations to avoid penalties.

Accommodation options for the Sepang MotoGP vary between staying close to the circuit or in Kuala Lumpur. Hotels near Sepang International Circuit provide quick access but are limited in number, so early booking is recommended. Options around the circuit include Sama Sama Hotel KLIA, Movenpick Hotel & Centre KLIA, Tune Hotel KLIA-KLIA2, and Plaza Premium Lounge

Kuala Lumpur, about 45 minutes away, offers a wider selection of hotels, restaurants, and entertainment, with easy access to the circuit via train, bus, or ride-hailing services. 

Popular choices in the city include Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur and Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Staying near KLIA or along the Express Rail Link (ERL) can help with transport convenience. Some hotels offer race-day shuttle services. Budget options can be found in Nilai or Dengkil, while KL Sentral and Bukit Bintang provide more premium choices.

For a more immersive experience, some fans opt for accommodations near the airport or in quieter areas outside the city. This can be a good balance between accessibility and comfort, offering a less crowded atmosphere while still being within reach of both Sepang and Kuala Lumpur’s attractions.
