About the circuit

TT Circuit Assen is a legendary venue in MotoGP, renowned for its fast, flowing layout and passionate crowds that create an electric race weekend atmosphere. Originally a road circuit before transitioning to a permanent track in 1955, Assen has evolved while maintaining its unique character. Its 4.555 km layout demands precision and skill, with rapid direction changes and unpredictable weather often leading to dramatic races.

Assen is the only circuit to have hosted a round of the Motorcycle World Championship every year since its inception in 1949, except in 2020. This enduring presence underscores its significance as a cornerstone of the sport. The original circuit was a long road course that ran through local villages before transitioning to a permanent venue.

Despite modern modifications, the track has preserved its signature high-speed corners and flowing nature, making it a favourite among riders. One of its most famous sections, the Geert Timmer chicane, has decided countless last-lap battles, cementing Assen’s reputation for thrilling finishes. I

In 2025, the circuit will celebrate its 100th anniversary, marking a century of motorsport excellence and unforgettable racing moments.
